City of the Living Dead (1980) - Lucio Fulci

There was a string of horrible Italian splatter flicks that came out during the Grindhouse heyday of the 70's. Thanks to the likes of Dario Argento and Lucio Fulci putting their crazy, messed-up visions to celluloid. These were usually brought to you in their full gory glory, complete with buckets of blood. This movie is no exception.  This movie is nothing more than a perfect example of a schlock eighties zombies flick. A product of exporting their work out to Italy where unfortunately the overdubbing is too much at times. However, it does add some bit of nostalgia when you watch these. You know its not going to be perfect. It's all part of the package. Right?  A priest kills himself on consecrated ground awakening the dead. Now a journalist needs to get to the bottom of this disaster and hopefully save the day. Sounds like a pretty thin storyline? It is. Everything from the storyline to the acting is boring. Needless to say, it could be a lot better.
